EDO announces receipt of $3.3 million contract from Westinghouse Electric Corp.

COLLEGE POINT, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 1995--EDO Corp. (NYSE:EDO) today announced that its Combat Systems business unit received a contract valued at approximately $3.3 million from Westinghouse Electric Corp.

Under the contract, which was partially funded in 1994, EDO's Chesapeake, Va. based Combat Systems business unit will manufacture and deliver to Westinghouse a Tactical Digital Information Link (TADIL) Processing and Display System to be used as part of an upgrade to the Southern Regional Operations Center for the Caribbean Basin Radar Network (CBRN).

The upgrade will allow air, land, and sea-based defense units throughout the Caribbean Basin to exchange real-time surveillance information. The U.S. Air Force's Electronic Systems Center is the government acquisition agency for the CBRN program. Manufacturing and delivery is scheduled to be completed during 1995.

Frank A. Fariello, EDO's president and chief executive officer, stated, "The Westinghouse contract award underscores both our firm commitment to the continued growth of our defense and space systems business segment and the integrity of the EDO technology underlying that commitment. We are very excited to be a part of the CBRN program with Westinghouse and the U.S. Air Force. We will continue to aggressively explore new business initiatives to apply the full breadth of our advanced technology to building our core military business base."

Principally a designer and manufacturer of advanced electronic, acoustic aerodynamic and hydrodynamic equipment for military applications and marine and aviation markets, EDO has been pursuing the application of its sophisticated and diverse defense related technologies to civilian and commercial markets with particular emphasis on the natural gas vehicle marketplace.
