EDITORIAL AMERICA PRESENTS COSTA RICAN ART

MIAMI, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Galeria Vanidades announces the opening of an exhibition of paintings by six Costa Rican painters (Vilma Faingezitch de Ickowicz, Guido Saenz, Luis Chacon Gonzalez, Fabio Herrera, Florencia Urbina, Rolando Garita), on Friday, April 2 at 7 p.m. The six painters selected for this exhibition will display works that break ground in new dimensions of space, light, and color. The group includes four "figurative" painters, but only in a general sense, since their creativity transcends any style.
Vilma Faingezitch's figures capture the essence of the soul and energy of her subjects. In her works, one experiences enrichment and exploration.
Guido Saenz emerges at a time when the Latin American identity is being defined, a process that has its roots in the Fifth Century.
Luis Chacon specializes in landscapes. His energy is reflected in the intense tropical atmosphere of his compositions.
Fabio Herrera is absorbed with multiple creations and recreations, and the fluidity compositions offers a sharp contrast to his treatment of planes and angles.
Florencia Urbina is one of the few Costa Rican artists associated with the American "pop" movement, but her creativity provides her images with a more critical and literal character.
Rolando Garita's chromolithographs are extraordinarily pliable, creating a synthesis of design and expression that suggests an almost abstract contrast with unusual and provocative planes.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until April 30. Galeria Vanidades is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., and on Saturdays by appointment. For additional information, call 305-871-6400.
