EDITEK RECEIVES ADDITIONAL PATENT ON EZ-SCREEN TECHNOLOGY

 BURLINGTON, N.C., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- EDITEK, Inc. (AMEX: EDI) reported today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued a new patent to the company. Patent Number 5,240,844, entitled "Test Kit for Determining the Presence of Organic Materials and Method of Utilizing Same" is a Continuation-in-Part of a previously issued patent of the same title. The new patent adds coverage for the bi-directional flow and multiple test site characteristics utilized in the company's present EZ-SCREEN(R) products. Dr. Carole Golden, vice president-Research and Development, said: "With issuance of this Test Kit Continuation case, EDITEK has brought to seven the number of patents in its portfolio that describe, among other things, devices and/or methods for delivery of membrane-based assays specifically designed for rapid, on-site testing.
