EDITEK, INC., RECEIVES NEW PATENT

 BURLINGTON, N.C., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- EDITEK, Inc. (AMEX: EDI.EC), reported today that it has been issued Patent No. 5,202,268 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The patent, entitled Multi-Layered Test Card for the Determination of Substances in Liquids, covers, among other things, an alternate device for use in the performance of one-step assays. The device described in the patent utilizes multim?branes of different pore sizes to facilitate analysis of either aqueous or nonaqueous samples and requires little or no operator intervention after addition of the sample to the device. In addition, this device permits sample flow to be regulated, thus increasing or decreasing the time of sample/reagent interaction during the test. In essence, this one-step technology enables sample processing within the test device as well as providing for regulated incubation periods.
