EDISON PRESIDENT TO CHAIR COMMISSION ON INNOVATION
 ROSEMEAD, Calif., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- California's Board of

Governors announced today that Southern California Edison President Michael R. Peevey will chair the Commission on Innovation.
The commission, made up of national experts, educators and concerned citizens, will develop recommendations to meet the needs of the state's community colleges. "With more than 80 percent of the state's minority students enrolled in community colleges, it has become clear that we need to employ new approaches to accommodate increasing enrollment demand, changing demographics and funding limitations," Peevey said.
The Board of Governors and the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges established the Commission on Innovation to address long-range challenges facing the state's 107 community colleges. The first meeting of the commission will be held on Nov. 19, 1991 in Newport Beach, Calif.
