EDISON PAYS FIRST INSTALLMENT OF $130 MILLION
 1991-1992 CALIFORNIA PROPERTY TAX BILL
ROSEMEAD, Calif., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- On Dec. 10, Southern California Edison Company paid the first half of its $130 million 1991-1992 property tax bill. Edison pays property taxes to 20 California counties for facilities that produce and distribute electricity to Edison's 4 million customers.
"Los Angeles County received $22.9 million in 1991-1992 property taxes, while Orange and San Diego Counties were paid $8.2 and $12.4 million, respectively," Edison Assistant Controller Anthony L. Smith said.
Property taxes are assessed on the company's properties, including power plants, transmission and distribution lines, substations, offices and other facilities needed to supply electricity to Edison's customers.
Smith added, "In addition to providing vital electric service to a large portion of California, Edison also makes significant contributions to local communities through property tax payments. The taxes support local schools, and city and county community services."
