 CHICAGO, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicago-based EdgeMark Financial Corp. (NASDAQ: EDGE) today announced the following personnel promotions and staff addition:
 --Ruth H. Carroll -- promoted to community bank president of its
 Merchandise National Bank unit's Germania Place location.
 --Mark R. Brennan -- promoted to marketing officer at
 Merchandise National Bank.
 --John M. Atkinson -- joined the corporation as an assistant
 vice president and financial service officer for Merchandise
 National Bank.
 Ruth H. Carroll, 40, who will retain her positions as marketing director for Merchandise National Bank and EdgeMark Financial Corp., joined EdgeMark in 1989. Previously, she was vice president and director of retail marketing at Harris Bank of Chicago. Carroll began her career in banking at Continental Bank of Chicago, where she served 12 years in the customer relations, retail operations and marketing departments.
 Carroll holds both a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, an MBA in marketing from DePaul University, and is a graduate of the School of Bank Marketing at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
 A resident of Wheaton, Ill., Carroll is past president of the Northern Illinois Chapter of the Bank Marketing Association and a member of the Cash Station ATM Security Council, Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce, River North Association, Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, Old Town Chamber of Commerce and Chicago Financial Advertisers. Additionally, she has been an instructor for the Chicagoland American Institute of Bankers, the Bank Administration Institute and the Illinois Bankers Association.
 Mark R. Brennan, 29, joined EdgeMark in 1992 from First Federal of Lakewood, Lakewood, Ohio, where he was assistant secretary and marketing manager.
 Brennan holds a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University and completed the Institute of Financial Education's degree program.
 A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Brennan currently resides in Cary, Ill. He is a member of the Financial Institution Marketing Association, American Marketing Association, Northern Illinois Chapter of the Bank Marketing Association, Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce and Chicago Financial Advertisers.
 John M. Atkinson, 31, joins EdgeMark from Gary-Wheaton Investment Services, Inc. where he was an assistant vice president and full- commissioned investments broker. Previously, he was an investments broker for Merrill Lynch, Chicago, and First Jersey Securities, Mt. Prospect, Ill.
 Atkinson, a resident of Winfield, Ill., is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago and holds Series 7, Series 63 and Life Insurance professional licenses.
