EDE, INC. ANNOUNCES PLAN FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ENTERTAINMENT SPORTS COMPLEXES AND FORMATION OF NEW PROFESSIONAL SOCCER LEAGUE

CHICAGO, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Entertainment Destination Enterprises, Inc. (EDE) announced today at a press conference in Chicago its business plan to construct entertainment/sports complexes complete with 20,000-seat stadiums in major cities across the country. EDE also announced the formation of a professional, "major" soccer league called League One America (L1A). The League will be the first tenant to occupy the new stadiums.
The EDE plan calls for the construction of entertainment/sports complexes in 12 U.S. cities. The stadiums will be designed specifically for the standards suited for outdoor soccer. EDE is likely to identify sites in most of the nine World Cup '94 markets as well as other major markets to reach its target of 12 sites.
In addition to state-of-the-art stadiums, adjoining construction will house entertainment and activity facilities of the newest order for the year 2000 and beyond. There are many leading U.S. companies that are identifying retail/consumer concepts that will advance the definition of family entertainment.
There are countless traditional sports and entertainment activities that are being reconfigured to meet the changing patterns of American life. Many of these proven and evolving concepts as well as some experimental ideas are being considered for the entertainment/sports complexes. EDE's intent is to link several entertainment concepts in a single site around a stadium in a configuration that can be duplicated across the country.
"We believe that an entertainment/sports complex facility that houses six or seven types of unique attractions backed by large U.S. corporations would not only thrive, but also serve as a strong partner in a stadium complex," said Jim Paglia, president of Entertainment Destination Enterprises, Inc. "Additionally, our stadium model offers fan comforts such as individual seating, impressive scoreboard capabilities, and luxury sky boxes, all ideally suited for soccer as well as other outdoor events."
A key component of the EDE plan is the marketing exposure of tenants of the commercial space through the stadium, League and teams. A prorated portion of the startup costs for stadium construction and league development will be added to the tenant's occupancy construction costs. EDE intends to provide each tenant the opportunity to gain visibility and identity with specific stadium properties. Separately, each corporate sponsor of the complex will be offered exclusive league visibility and team identity properties. This multiple exposure and integrated marketing would ensure that each corporate tenant would gain maximum exposure for its investment.
The stadiums will host a variety of entertainment events with the primary tenant being League One America. L1A, a "major" league of professional soccer, is being created to fill a void that currently exists in the marketplace.
"L1A will serve as a centralized general provider of support services traditionally offered by a league, such as officiating, marketing and scheduling, but will go beyond that by identifying cross promotion and unique identity opportunities between the stadium sponsors, the League and the teams," Paglia added. "The EDE plan will deliver a single entity league that will blend central management with community ownership and corporate sponsor involvement on levels that are meaningful and relevant to all involved."
The entertainment/sports complexes and L1A are scheduled to be up in place and fully operational by May of 1995.
Entertainment Destination Enterprises, Inc., consists of a team of individuals with vast corporate, business, finance, political and real estate development experience with the resources to execute this plan. The team also includes the soccer knowledge and expertise to make L1A successful.
