ECOLAB ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN INSTITUTIONAL DIVISION PERSONNEL CHANGES

ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Ecolab (NYSE: ECL; PSE) confirmed today that six Institutional Division sales managers have resigned and indicated their intention to form a new company to represent competitive products and services.
Commenting on the resignations, Allan L. Schuman, Ecolab's president and chief operating officer, stated: "Ecolab is the global market leader in cleaning and sanitizing for the food service and hospitality industry. While we regret the resignation of these individuals, we do not anticipate that their actions will have a material effect on our business. Ecolab will continue to offer the unequaled value-oriented products and unparalleled service which the industry has come to expect."
Ecolab also stated that it will take all appropriate steps to assure compliance by the departed individuals with their non-compete agreements.
Ecolab is the leading worldwide developer and marketer of premium cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance products and services for the hospitality, institutional and industrial markets. Results for the first half ended June 30, 1993, showed record sales of $499 million and record net income of $33 million, or $1.03 per share.
