AGREE TO UNDERTAKE A CONCEPTUAL DESIGN PROGRAM
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Jan. 15 /PRNewsire -- ECO Administracion S.A. de C.V. (ECO), of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, which is a newly formed joint venture between Metalclad and a group of prominent Mexican businessmen, and Molten Metal Technology, Inc. of Cambridge, have agreed to begin a formal engineering design program to commercialize Catalytic Extraction Processing (CEP) at ECO's central waste processing site in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The program is part of ECO's efforts to seek out and employ the best available environmental technologies for its plants.
CEP is a pollution prevention, waste minimization, and materials recovery process that makes products from wastes. ECO believes that CEP is superior to high temperature incineration because CEP recovers resources, while producing no undesireable byproducts such as dioxins, furans, NOx or SOx. The widespread commercialization of CEP is expected to make high-temperature incineration obsolete in the coming years.
ECO and Molten Metal Technology anticipate using CEP at up to seven central sites in Mexico, in order to address that nation's critical environmental priorities. The site in San Luis Potosi is the first newly permitted central site in Mexico, since Mexico adopted U.S. environmental standards, which establishes ECO as the premier new environmental firm in Mexico. Grant S. Kesler, Metaclad's chief executive officer, expects the San Luis Potosi facility to process 120,000 tons/year of waste and generate annual gross revenues of $150 million.
