ECCS names Azcuy CEO and elects additional board members.

TINTON FALLS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 20, 1996--ECCS Inc. (Nasdaq SmallCap Market:ECCS) today announced the promotion of Gregg M. Azcuy from president and chief operating officer to chief executive officer and the addition of three directors to its board, Donald E. Fowler, Frank R. Triolo, and Thomas I. Unterberg.

Each of these directors bring a myriad of experience and talent to the company's board.

M.E. Faherty, chairman of the board, who served as interim chief executive officer since December 1994, said he was very pleased to announce this promotion because Azcuy has earned it as he has managed the company's day-to-day operations through a very difficult period and demonstrated the capabilities required to lead the company into a much brighter future. Azcuy will also continue as the company's chief operating officer.

Azcuy, who has been with ECCS since April 1994, has 16 years experience in storage product introductions, sales strategies, competitive analysis and product positioning, and was formerly with Hitachi Data Systems International, System Industries and Olivetti Corp. Faherty will continue as chairman of the board.

Donald E. Fowler is president and chief executive officer of Worlds, Inc., a leader in software tools and technology. Prior to his present position, Fowler was senior vice president at Tandem Corp., which further broadens ECCS' dimension with his knowledge and experience in the computer industry, with particular emphasis on software products and telecommunications. He has also held executive assignments at Bechtel Group and IBM. Fowler received B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Washington. He currently serves as chairman of the President's Cabinet at California Polytechnic State University.

Frank R. Triolo, chairman of Knowledge Discovery 1, has been affiliated with the computer industry for many years as a senior officer with AT&T Global Information Solutions (now NCR), Teradata Corp., Amdahl Corp., among others. Triolo brings a wealth of major account sales and strategic planning experience to ECCS and is a strategic addition to ECCS' board. Triolo has a B.A. degree in economics from St. John's University, New York.

Thomas I. Unterberg is managing director of Unterberg Harris, an investment banking firm which is the company's financial advisor and principal underwriter for the 1993 IPO. As recently announced, Unterberg Harris led the private placement of an equity infusion of $3,000,000 in the form of a series C convertible preferred stock. Unterberg had been affiliated with Lehman Brothers as head of Technology Investment Banking. Prior to that he was a general partner, managing director and chairman of L. F. Rothschild, Unterberg, Towbin. Unterberg graduated from Princeton University and has an M.B.A. from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He currently serves on the board of several companies.

Gustav H. Koven III of Edison Venture Fund, who has provided ECCS with outstanding and conscientious service on its board of directors since April 1990, and who has been an outstanding supporter of the company, will not be standing for re-election at the next annual shareholders meeting which is scheduled for Aug. 22, 1996.
