ECC intensifying awareness campaign.
The Employees' Compensation Commission (ECC) is enhancing its information education campaign so that it can educate about 50% of the employees on what benefits they can get from the agency.
'We only have 26% awareness rate and we recognize that it is lower. Our target is to make it higher until we reach 100%,' said Stella Z. Banawis, ECC executive director and chief executive officer, on Tuesday during a press conference at Marco Polo Hotel.
Since 1975, ECC already recorded 6.1 million claims with equivalent benefits value of about P38 billion.
Average claims served by ECC annually is about P240,000 in both government and private sectors, while amount of claims they are able to provide every year ranges from P1.2 billion to 1.3 billion.
'We need partners to inform employees that this kind of program exists. Because we have bigger funds that we could offer to them,' said Banawis.
On Tuesday, ECC gave additional P10, 000 to P15,000 cash assistance to the victims and families of a coconut processing company who met an accident about three months ago as part of their rehabilitation program.
The accident resulted in the death of 14 people.
