EC starts issuing nomination papers for presidential polls.

ISLAMABAD -- First phase of presidential election has started and Election Commission (EC) has started issuing nomination papers on this count.

It will not be mandatory for the candidate to appear in person for filing nomination paper.

As per EC press release, Rs 100 has been fixed as price for nomination paper and the process for providing nomination papers has been started.

It will be mandatory for the proposer and seconder of the candidate to appear in person and they will also be required to provide evidence about their enrolment in the electoral lists as voters. An authenticated copy of card issued to them as member of national assembly or provincial assembly or senate will also be required to be provided being a mandatory condition.

Presidential polls will take place on August, 6 and schedule has been issued in this respect.

As per schedule nomination papers will be received till July, 24 and the papers will be subjected to scrutiny on July, 29. Members of parliament and provincial assemblies will elect new president on August, 6.
