EASTERN MEDIA INTERNATIONAL LAUNCHES BROADCAST MARKETING CORP.; -- MEDIA PLANNING AND BUYING SERVICE SEEKS 'UNBUNDLED' AD DOLLARS --

NEW YORK, April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadcast Marketing Corp., one of the nation's oldest and largest advertising barter agencies, today announced the debut of a media buying service affiliate, Eastern Media International, Ltd.
The stand-alone strategic media planning and buying agency will capitalize on the growing preference among advertisers to use specialized agencies when conducting and ad campaign. Choosing a variety of firms that are expert in their particular areas over the industry's full-service agencies is known as "unbundling."
We see Eastern Media International, or EMI, as a natural outgrowth of our deep experience in planning and executing strategically-oriented business campaigns," said Lee Wolfman, chairman and chief executive officer of Broadcast Marketing Corp., who will fill the same role at EMI, as well.
"We see the unbundling trend as a growing one," Mr. Wolfman added. "In 1992, more than $255 million left full-service agencies and went to independent media services -- with independent media services now handling more than seven percent of all domestic media placement. We expect the trend to grow to 12 percent by the end of the decade."
EMI also announced that day-to-day management of the media service will be under the purview of Shearon Grierson, a 20-year veteran of the advertising industry, who will carry the title executive vice president of advertising and marketing. Vice president for account management supervisor will be Diane Dunbar, who has more than 25-years of experience in all aspects of the media business.
Founded in 1972, Broadcast Marketing Corporation is one of the oldest and most innovative companies in the non-traditional advertising industry. It is best known for helping a variety of companies in remarketing excess of problem inventory in exchange for high-quality advertising media schedules. Its client roster includes more than 70 percent of the nation's top 100 advertisers.
