EASTERN ASSOCIATED FILES CHARGES ON STRIKE MISCONDUCT AT FEDERAL NO. 2 MINE

 CHARLESTON, W.Va., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Eastern Associated Coal Corp. announced today that it filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) seeking orders against strike-related misconduct at its Federal No. 2 Mine in Monongalia County, W.Va., and protection for its suppliers and vendors against continued threats and intimidation.
 Four separate charges were filed at the NLRB offices in Pittsburgh, which has jurisdiction for northern West Virginia.
 -- The company filed separate charges against the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) and Local 1570 for conducting mass picketing and making threats of violence against a vendor in violation of NLRB orders obtained against the UMWA in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
 -- The company also filed separate charges against the United Mine Workers of America, District 31, and Local 1570 for violating NLRB orders obtained against the UMWA in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit by blocking the ingress and egress of employees and suppliers to the Federal No. 2 Mine.
 Eastern Associated said it felt compelled to file charges to prevent a further escalation of misconduct.
