EASTER IS 'EGG-CITING' AT THE PLYMOUTH MAYFLOWER HOTEL
PLYMOUTH, Mich., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Although spring was slow

arriving everywhere else in Michigan, an early sign of the season's change was in full bloom last week in downtown Plymouth.
For 50 years in Plymouth, the arrival of spring is heralded not by the first bloom of the crocus but by the arrival of the Easter Egg Tree in the lobby of the Mayflower Hotel.
A half-century ago, Mable Lorenz, the late wife of Ralph Lorenz (the founder of the historic hotel), assembled a lovely Easter Egg Tree made of actual eggshells stained with spring's bright colors.
The eggshells used were hand-selected from the thousands of eggs cracked each year by chefs in the Mayflower kitchen, stained with bright pastels, and spread across otherwise stark limbs to illustrate the wondrous blooming of spring.
The beauty and creativity of the Easter Egg Tree has been marveled over by thousands of hotel guests and townsfolk over the past 50 years who have walked through the lobby for Easter dinner or enroute to Easter brunch.
Last week, the Easter Egg Tree again took its traditional place in the center of the hotel's lobby and again is a "show-stopper" as spectators pause to marvel over its beauty and its symbolism.
Creon Smith, general manager of the Mayflower Hotel, invites anyone who has not yet viewed the Easter Egg Tree to visit the hotel at Ann Arbor Trail and Main Street anytime. "And after you finish enjoying this spectacular sight, stop by our front desk and make a reservation for Easter brunch or Easter dinner," said Smith. "We want to get you in the mood for spring, especially after its sluggish arrival, and know we can also make your Easter season very enjoyable."
