EARTH-SHAPED BEVERAGE COOLER TEACHES GEOGRAPHY AS IT REFRESHES
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Call him a round peg in a square world if you like. It won't bother this cool Texan. Bob Pierce, you see, has invented the world's first spherical beverage cooler.
After years of research and development, Bob Pierce, president of Silicon Valley-based Kool Sports(TM) has just introduced the world's first spherical beverage coolers. Kool Sports Global Cooler(TM) comes with a colorful, up-to-date map of the earth printed on the outside.
"We're living in a global village, and the Global Cooler is a fun way for children and their parents to learn more about our planet," Pierce said. "It's easier to love the earth if you're holding it in your hand."
Open the Kool Sports Global Cooler and there's room for seven beverages held firmly in a molded plastic base, four sandwiches, plus plenty of ice.
Slide the easy-open handle up to the North Pole, and it responds with a satisfying snap -- the top is locked firmly in place. Scientists say that the earth wobbles a bit as it travels through space, but not the Global Cooler. It sits firmly on a one-piece molded plastic base.
Bob Pierce's quest to make the world a cooler place was born out of frustration with boxy beverage coolers more than ten years ago. The place was a golf course in Texas. "By the time my friends and I got to the fourth hole, our drinks were hot," he said. "I began to wonder if I could make a better cooler. Since I'm a golfer, I thought I'd make one that looks like a big golf ball."
Pierce began to put his 20 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer to work on the problem. Starting with a tough impact-resistant ABS plastic shell, he added a layer of high-density insulation, followed by an easy-to-clean inner liner. The resulting material is Kool-Tech(TM) -- the cooler material for the new world order.
Each Kool Sports cooler is precision molded, right down to the dimples on the 12-inch diameter golf ball. In addition to the Global Cooler and the golf ball, coolers for other sports will soon be available as well. Kool Sports has plans to produce realistic-looking soccer ball, baseball, basketball, volleyball and colorful beach ball coolers. Pierce said, "My goal is to recycle all those square boxy coolers into global coolers."
The Global Cooler and golf ball coolers are available for about $39.95 to $49.95, plus shipping and handling, from Kool Sports at 800-669-1460.
