EARLY SKI SEASON BRINGS BARGAINS GALORE TO THE CANADIAN ROCKIES
ALBERTA, Canada, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- To kick off Alberta's mid- November early ski season, Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts has new vacation packages for guests desiring world-class skiing and superior accommodations in the breath-taking Canadian Rocky Mountains.
Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts has several ski getaway deals available. WinterStart, offered by Banff Springs and Chateau Lake Louise, is a $56 U.S. package which includes one night of accommodation at either hotel and an all-day lift ticket at one of three unbeatable ski areas: Norquay, Sunshine Village or Lake Louise. Popular for its steep slopes and great cruising terrain, Norquay has a top elevation of 7,000 feet, a vertical drop of 1,650 feet, and runs like Lone Pine are a challenge to expert skiers.
Sunshine Village receives up to 30 feet of snow each year and has served as host to several downhill championships. Yet, more than half of its 62 runs are intermediate. At an elevation of 9,000 feet, the 800-acre resort spans over two provinces, with ski terrain on the provincial boundary between Alberta and British Columbia.
Lake Louise, home to the 1992 World Cup Ladies Downhill Competition, offers 4,000 acres of imaginative runs covering four mountain faces. Canada's largest ski area, Lake Louise is so large that it takes the average skier a week to cover the entire mountain.
Marmot Basin, just minutes from Jasper Park Lodge, is a downhill skier's paradise. With an equal mix of expert, intermediate and beginner runs, early skiers can enjoy more than 50 uncrowded runs which wind through beautiful tree-lined and open-bowl trails. Jasper Park Lodge's Early Bird Special, for $59 U.S., includes one night of accommodation, an all-day lift ticket and lunch at the Marmot Basin ski area, and, to end a great day in the Rockies, dinner at Jasper Park Lodge.
A final early ski vacation is Super Savers Season offered by the Hotel and Lodge at Kananaskis. Included are an all-day lift ticket at Nakiksa, home of the 1988 Winter Olympics, and one night of accommodation for $43 U.S. (Nov. 29 through Dec. 20). Modeled in European design, this sophisticated resort covers 250 acres and offers tremendous ski terrain with runs named, respectively, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Prices quoted are in U.S. currency based on double occupancy at a 15 percent exchange rate. For more information on these ski packages or any of Canadian Pacific Hotel's world-class resorts, call 800-828-7447.
