EARL ELLIS ELECTED TO CODA ENERGY BOARD
DALLAS, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Coda Energy, Inc.

(NASDAQ-NMS: CODA) announced today that Earl Ellis has been elected to the company's board of directors.
A native of Dallas, Ellis is a senior partner of the Wall Street investment firm of Benjamin Jacobson & Sons. Ellis joined Benjamin Jacobson & Sons in 1977 and represents the firm as a specialist on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
After graduating from Baylor University in 1963, Ellis served as a salesman for Shearson Hammill in Dallas from 1966 to 1971. He later joined Eastman Dillon to manage the Over the Counter trading department for the company in Dallas and in New York. Before joining Benjamin Jacobson & Sons, Ellis represented Institutional Equity, another Wall Street Investment firm, on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
Ellis said his long time association with the top management of Coda Energy and his ties to the Southwest attracted him to the Dallas company. "Hopefully as a director, I will be able to give some ideas from a different perspective," Ellis said. "When the company gets a little bigger and is able to talk about listing on an exchange, I would be in a position to help."
Coda Chief Executive Officer Douglas Miller said, "The election of Ellis to the board will bring us true expertise of Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange system coupled with honesty and integrity, second to none."
As a member of the education committee of the New York Stock Exchange, Ellis frequently tours the country to meet with representatives of companies listed on the Big Board. He has appeared on the ABC news program Nightline as an expert on market activities. A resident of Mill Neck, N.Y., Ellis also is active in community affairs. He serves on the board of the Grenvile-Baker Boys and Girls Club in Locust Valley, N.Y.
Ellis has been elected to serve a one year term on the board effective April 29, 1992.
Coda Energy, Inc. is an oil and gas acquisition and production company headquartered in Dallas with principal operations in Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma.
