 E. HERBERT ROSS, PRESIDENT OF THE BON-TON, TO LEAVE
 YORK, Pa., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc.


(NASDAQ: BONT), the York, Pa. based regional fashion department store chain today announced that Herb Ross, president and chief operating officer, will leave the company effective Sept. 25, 1992. Mr. Ross has been responsible for merchandising, marketing and store functions.
 Tim Grumbacher, chairman and chief executive officer, stated, "We are initiating a search to find a replacement for Herb Ross. Until we complete our search, I have assumed the responsibilities of president and have been working very closely with Mr. Ross and his staff to ensure a smooth transition."
 The Bon-Ton operates 34 department stores in secondary markets in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York and West Virginia. The stores carry broad assortments of brand-name fashions and accessories for women, men and children, as well as home furnishings.
