E-SYSTEMS WINS DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT

DALLAS, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- E-Systems (NYSE: ESY) announced today it has been awarded a $16 million two year, competitive contract by the U.S. Department of Education for the development and operation of the national database for student loans and grants.
The National Student Loan Data System contract award includes 3 one- year options that are expected to extend the total value of the contract to more than $50 million.
The contract calls for the development of a complex, state-of-the- art software system and database to prescreen requests for student loans and grants. The system will also provide comprehensive reporting and query capabilities not previously available. It is expected to play a key role in reducing student loan defaults and the associated costs to the United States government.
"This award gives E-Systems a strong base beyond our core business that will set the stage for future business pursuits," said E. Gene Keiffer, chairman and chief executive officer of E-Systems.
Computer processing and network support for this program will be provided by E-Systems Greenville (Texas) Division. Software design and development will take place in Virginia.
E-Systems is a major worldwide developer and producer of electronics systems and products in the areas of intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance systems, command and control, electronic warfare, specialized aircraft maintenance and modification, guidance, navigation and control, communications and data systems.
