E-SYSTEMS RECEIVES $4 MILLION IN NEW CONTRACT AWARDS

DALLAS, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- E-Systems Montek Division, Salt Lake City, has received two contracts totaling $4 million for three higher power AN/TRN-26 Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN) systems and spares.
One system will be for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at their White Sands, N.M., location to be used as part of the back-up navigational aids for the space shuttle.
The other two systems were acquired as part of a foreign military sale through Sacramento Air Logistics Agency for Egypt.
The ground-based navigational aid was initially designed and produced for the U.S. Air Force as a transportable TACAN beacon capable of transmitting bearing, distance and station identification information to 100 transponder-equipped aircraft simultaneously over line-of-sight range of 100 miles.
The highly-reliable system employs a building block concept that permits deployment and operation in various configurations ranging from a nonredundant "minimum" system to a dual, fully automatic TACAN station. It can be set up and put in operation from its transport mode by two men in a matter of minutes. This system is presently in use by the U.S. Air Force, NASA and by several foreign nations. More than 150 systems have been delivered to date.
E-Systems Montek Division is an international leader in the development and manufacture of aircraft flight controls and surface- based navigation electronics.
E-Systems is a major worldwide developer and producer of electronics systems and products in the areas of intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance systems, command and control, electronic warfare, specialized aircraft maintenance and modification, guidance, navigation and control, communications and data systems.
