E-SYSTEMS AWARDED AIR FORCE JSIPS NATIONAL SYSTEM CONTRACT

DALLAS, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- E-Systems, Garland (Texas) Division, has been awarded a $50.7 million three-year contract for the U.S. Air Force Joint Service Image Processing System (JSIPS) National System to be delivered in 1996. The contract is the first in a series of JSIPS production contracts with the Air Force Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom AFB, Boston, as the procuring agency.
JSIPS is a modular, tactically deployable system, capable of receiving, processing, exploiting, and disseminating digital imagery from multiple sensor types and multiple image sources. The image types processed in JSIPS include electro optical, infrared and synthetic aperture radar. The system provides intelligence reports to field commanders in an average of 15 minutes from receipt of the real-time imagery. JSIPS provides intelligence information on troop movement, threat assessment, threat placement and bomb damage assessment to tactical commanders.
Under a full scale development contract awarded in 1987, E-Systems produced two JSIPS systems one of which has been delivered and installed in Germany and the other system is undergoing integration and test at a U.S. Air Force base in Florida.
This contract will provide the first in a series of systems to provide timely image intelligence to tactical units. Other orders are expected in fiscal year 1994 for another Army system and multiple awards in fiscal year 1995 for the Air Force, the Army and the Marine Corps. Additional system acquisitions and support activities are projected beyond the year 2000.
E-Systems is a major worldwide developer and producer of electronics systems and products in the areas of intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance systems, command and control, specialized aircraft maintenance and modification, guidance, navigation and control, communications and data systems.
