Farm Credit has partnered with agricultural input exchange XSAg.com, Research Triangle Park, N.C. Growers can now access agricultural chemicals, seed, equipment parts and animal health products being offered by dealers, distributors and manufacturers from around the country at XSAg.com and apply on the site for a new line of credit through Farm Credit to pay for the products. Some of the current regions included in the Farm Credit partnership are the Pacific Northwest, the Carolinas, major portions of the Midwest and parts of California. Additional regions will be added throughout the season.
XSAg.com has entered into a strategic marketing alliance with eCotton.com, Memphis, the online commodity and information exchange for the cotton industry. The partnership provides eCotton.com users with a complete and seamless e-commerce solution for farm inputs, powered by XSAg.com.
"eCotton users have been able to sell cotton on the Internet; now they'll be able to buy inputs as well," says Scott Peoples, XSAg.com director of marketing. "Clicking a link at eCotton.com will transport users to an eCotton-branded, completely secure inputs trading exchange with XSAg.com as the engine."
Data Transmission Network Corp., Omaha, Neb., has launched its new wireless DTN Rover. Using a Pal Pilot and cell phone, DTN Rover delivers weather data, market quotes and breaking agricultural news that producers can access anytime, anywhere. Using a wireless modem, users simply connect their cell phone to a Palm Pilot equipped with DTN Rover software. An access number, preprogrammed into the handheld device and determined by the user's ZIP code, is dialed, allowing users to download the DTN information they need.
American Agrisurance, the nation's third largest crop insurance company, has entered into a distribution agreement with EarthScan to offer EarthScan's online imagery access and measurement tools to AmAg agents. The new technology is part of the company's ongoing development of innovative products and services meeting the needs of crop insurance agents and their customers. EarthScan develops technology that allows customers to access satellite imagery and processing tools via the Internet. EarthScan is a joint venture between Photon Research Associates and Data Transmission Network Corp.
