E&S AccelGALAXY Graphics Selected for Hewlett-Packard Kayak PC Workstation Family.

Fifth Consecutive Design Win at HP for Accel-branded Systems

Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp. (E&S(R))(NASDAQ: ESCC) Monday announced that Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HWP) has selected E&S's graphics technology for the fifth consecutive time to power HP professional workstations.

Ranked by the International Data Corp. as the leading supplier of workstations worldwide based on unit shipments, HP will offer the E&S REALimage(TM)-based AccelGALAXY(TM) graphics subsystem on Kayak XA, XA-s, and XU workstation models.

According to an announcement made by Hewlett-Packard today, the company is expanding its Kayak PC Workstation product family to include pervasive and affordable graphics capability across the breadth of the line.

"By incorporating the E&S AccelGALAXY, Kayak PC Workstations provide digital content creators, animation designers, mechanical and geoscience engineers with outstanding 3D OpenGL graphics performance at competitive prices," stated the announcement from HP.

"Hewlett-Packard was an early adopter of our high-performance graphics systems for Windows NT-powered platforms," said Jeffrey Dunn, vice president and co-general manager, E&S desktop graphics division.

"Our continued association with HP has helped us produce better technology and better products each step of the way since 1996. Today, virtually every major manufacturer of Windows NT systems in the world now has the power of REALimage technology in its product line."

The E&S AccelGALAXY graphics subsystem is based on the REALimage 2100. In its announcement, HP said it selected the AccelGALAXY for its rich set of features, including full OpenGL 1.1 support with all the texture mapping extensions, geometry processing of 4 million triangles second, and pixel fill rate of 90 million pixels per second.

Evans & Sutherland develops and manufactures hardware and software to produce highly realistic 3D synthetic worlds. E&S business units deliver high-quality visual systems and graphics subsystems for professional desktop graphics applications, digital video, simulation, entertainment, and education.
