Dyewitness of Ark. Inc.

Owners: Gary Barket and Jim Autry Address: 1900 N. Main St., Suite 100, North Little Rock, 72114, 758-8231 Start-up date: October

It packs a punch.

A green punch.

It labels criminals for up to a week.

Best of all, it fits in the palm of your hand.

What is it?

It is a new self-defense product, Dyewitness.

According to Gary Barket, a Little Rock attorney and Arkansas' first distributor of the product, Dyewitness was developed by a former Canadian police officer. It has been on the market less than a year.

Dyewitness is a small aerosol can containing pressurized green dye. With the pull of a trigger, the dye is released and can be sprayed in an assailant's face.

The dye is designed to blind the attacker and stain the criminal's face for up to seven days.

Because Dyewitness is non-lethal and non-toxic, anyone may purchase the product.

Barket and his partner, Jim Autry, sell Dyewitness for $39.95 per can through direct marketing. It is not sold in retail stores.

Barket says he and his partner are hiring full-time and part-time distributors.
