Manila: Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio's Facebook page was among dozens of accounts unilaterally deactivated by Facebook in a recent "purge" her spokesperson said.
Davao City Information Officer Jefry Tupas, in a post made last Wednesday, said the page of Philippine president's daughter had been inaccessible for some time.
"Did you know guys that Mayor "Inday" Sarah Zimmerman Duterte was one of the casualties of the Facebook purge? She's locked out after her Facebook was reported," Tupas posted in his own account in the social networking site.
Only this week, reports came out that some 200 accounts, groups and pages were taken down by Facebook in recent days for supposed involvement in "coordinated and inauthentic behaviour."
Most of these Facebook accounts were identified to have been put up by Nicanor "Nic" Gabunada Jr.
But Tupas clarified that Sarah had been "locked out" from her own account for some time now and not recently as part of the Facebook crackdown on pages with questionable political intent.
"It does not come as a surprise," he said. In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Thursday, he said he and Sarah have no complaints on getting shut out from Facebook.
