The Denmark central bank has called on banks to check their customers for tax evasion.

In a note to commercial banks, the apex bank said that they need to check whether their customers are innocent of tax evasion. Suspicious clients can be refused an account, the bank said.

There are legal requirements in the nation that require all banks to combat tax evasion and other financial crimes.
