Dusty in hall of fame.

Days after her funeral following her death from breast cancer, Dusty Springfield (far left) was today being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Sir Paul McCartney (left) was also to be inducted at the 14th annual ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.

When the honour was announced in November, Miss Springfield had hoped to attend the ceremony despite the illness she had battled for some years.

But she died in Britain two weeks ago at the age of 59. Her funeral was held on Friday in Oxfordshire.

Instead, Sir Elton John was to induct her and singer Melissa Etheridge was invited to sing one of the songs she made famous, said a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame spokeswoman.
