Duos Technologies Selected to Develop Automated Pantograph Inspection System for Chicago METRA.

CHICAGO & JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Duos Technologies, Inc. (Duos) has been selected to develop an Automated Pantograph Inspection System (APIS) for the Chicago METRA Electric District (METRA) in Chicago, Illinois, one of North America's largest city transit companies. Divane Brothers Electrical, Inc. is the prime contractor for this project. Duos will execute this project as a turn-key subcontract.

The system will use video analytics developed by Duos' R&D team to continuously inspect METRA's train pantographs and automatically detect suspicious anomalies suggesting defects in the pantographs. As trains pass through strategic inspection points, high resolution cameras will capture digital video images of each pantograph. The images will be overlaid with AEI (Automatic Equipment Identification) tag information from the respective cars passing by. Each high resolution digital pantograph image and corresponding car number will be fused, synchronized, and transmitted to an rvspro[TM] server, a Duos proprietary, remotely programmable digital recording unit where the images are processed, analyzed for defects, and stored on a SQL database.

The system will flag pantograph defects and will enable trained METRA technicians to zoom in for close-up inspection. Records will be digitally recorded, time-stamped, and the archived video and analytics will be available for forensics. Real-time and archived streaming video as well as the inspection data will be accessible from remote operator stations through a browser-based interface developed by Duos as part of the system.

At the core of this turnkey system will be PRAESIDIUM[TM] platform, Duos' sensor technology suite, the Company's proprietary cutting edge rule-based software which incorporates video analytics and data analysis from a myriad of sensor types into a unified, multi-source platform.

"Our team anticipates successful delivery of this intelligent algorithmic solution that will substantially improve current operating practices as it will provide an effective way to capture, evaluate and suggest pantograph anomalies automatically. We are gratified that Divane Brothers and METRA have confidence in our abilities and we are committed to execute this project before year end," said Gianni B. Arcaini, Duos Technologies' CEO.

About Divane Brothers Electric Company

For over 80 years, Divane Brothers Electric Company has provided high quality electrical contracting services to the transportation, aviation, general construction, and communications industries. Three generations later, the Divane family still operates this privately held, family owned business. Divane Brothers is on the cutting edge of technology, implementing state of the art fiber optic, data and voice networking systems for voice, data, and video transmission.

The Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corporation (better known as METRA) operates three electric commuter rail lines in Chicago in addition to several diesel lines. These originate at Randolph Street station in downtown Chicago. The 495-mile METRA system serves 230 stations in the counties of Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will, McHenry and Kane.

The METRA Electric lines use bi-level multiple-unit cars built by Bombardier and St. Louis Car Company. All stations have high platforms, and the cars are designed for high-platform operation exclusively.

Lines were built by the Illinois Central Railroad. They originally used steam locomotives, but were converted to electric operation in 1926 to improve the appearance of the Lake Michigan shoreline. In 1987, the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad sold the electric lines to METRA, which now operates them directly.
