Duo told to speak proper!

Geordie stars Ant and Dec, pictured, have been told to lose their accent if they want to front a quiz show in the USA.

The pair have been offered pounds 3m each to present the US version of Poker Face, their hit ITV1 quiz show.

But telly bosses on the other side of the Atlantic cannot make out their accents and the order has gone out that they should take elocution lessons.

Americans have no trouble with the Queen's English, but they find regional accents difficult to comprehend.

"The lads want to front the show and US telly bosses want them on board."

US networks are desperate to bag the show and a spokesman for Ant and Dec confirmed US channels were interested in Poker Face.

Ant and Dec own 50 per cent of the rights to the Saturday night show.

And they are set to pocket pounds 2.7m each if their celebrity golf tournament, the All Star Cup, tees off with a US telly deal next summer.
