Dunkin' Donuts' sports promotion offering consumers once-in-a-lifetime sports experiences with all six of New England's professional sports franchises to kick-off on January 3rd

Dunkin' Donuts announced today that the 2003 "Sports Dreams" promotion, in which Dunkin' Donuts has once again teamed up with all six of New England's professional sports teams to provide consumers with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to have their ultimate sports fantasies come true, will kick-off on January 3, 2003.

The peel-and-win promotion will be featured from January 3 through February 14 on more than 31 million medium, large and extra-large hot beverage cups at close to 1,500 Dunkin' Donuts franchises in the Boston, Providence, Springfield and Hartford markets.

"We at Dunkin' Donuts are excited to once again provide our loyal customers with unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to interact with their favorite professional athletes and major-league teams," said Dunkin' Donuts Regional Marketing Manager Tom Manchester. "We are proud to be able to provide our consumers with the chance to realize their greatest sports fantasies."

Total prizes for the peel-and-win "Sports Dreams" promotion are valued at nearly $30 million and will feature one-of-a-kind prizes that cannot be purchased anywhere. These "dream" prizes will provide winners with unique opportunities to interact on a personal level with some of New England's premier athletes. Sample "Sports Dreams" prizes include:
-- The opportunity to have a player from the Red Sox, New England Patriots or Boston Bruins deliver Dunkin' Donuts product to your workplace or school.

-- Throwing out the ceremonial "First Pitch" at Fenway Park.

-- Attending a private basketball clinic hosted by a member of the Boston Celtics.

-- Having a member of the Boston Breakers or New England Revolution professional soccer teams serve as the "Honorary Coach" of the winner's youth soccer team.

-- Riding the Zamboni at a Boston Bruins game.

-- Watching a portion of a Red Sox game from inside Fenway Park's "Green Monster."

-- The opportunity to be a guest of the New England Patriots at the team's training camp.

"It was just unbelievable to have this Dunkin' Donuts 'Sports Dream' come true for me," said 2001 "Sport Dreams" promotion winner Christine Lemay, of West Roxbury, MA, who won the opportunity to have Nomar Garciaparra deliver Dunkin' Donuts product to her office this past August. "Nomar was just a regular, down-to-earth guy and the prize was better than I had ever dreamed."

Participating athletes in the 2003 "Sports Dreams" promotion are Boston Red Sox All-Star Shortstop Nomar Garciaparra, New England Patriots Linebacker Tedy Bruschi, Boston Bruins Forward Joe Thornton, Boston Celtics Forward Vin Baker, Boston Breakers Midfielder Kristine Lilly and New England Revolution Forward Taylor Twellman.

"I'm looking forward to working with Dunkin' Donuts again on the 'Sports Dreams' promotion," said Red Sox shortstop Nomar Garciaparra. "I had a lot of fun participating in the promotion last year and it was great feeling to know that you had made somebody's sports fantasy come true."

In addition to partnering with all six of New England's professional sports franchises (Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins, New England Patriots, New England Revolution and Boston Breakers) the 2003 promotion will also incorporate minor-league and college teams throughout New England. Participating teams include: the Pawtucket Red Sox, Providence Bruins, University of Connecticut Huskies, Hartford Wolf Pack, Norwich Navigators, Springfield Falcons, Manchester Monarchs, Lowell Spinners, Lowell Lock Monsters and Boston College Eagles.

Every cup will be a winner with many of the prizes consisting of discount sports team ticket packages, food offers and autographed memorabilia from all participating teams.

To heighten public awareness of the promotion, Dunkin' Donuts will implement a comprehensive advertising campaign in the Boston, Providence, Springfield and Hartford markets. Hill, Holiday, Connors, Cosmopoulos Inc. is coordinating both the creative and media placement aspects of the promotion.

Five, 15-second television spots and two, 60-second radio spots will support the promotion. The advertisements will air on television and radio stations in each of the participating marketplaces. Dunkin' Donuts will also utilize some of its existing partnerships to heighten public awareness about the promotion, including stadium signage and athlete vignettes that will be shown during Patriots, Celtics and Bruins home games.
