Duke rejects Wigan deal; FOOTBALL.

WIGAN striker Nathan Ellington has turned down the offer of a new contract and may now be set to leave the JJB Stadium.

"Duke" Ellington scored 24 goals last season as the Latics claimed automatic promotion to the Barclays Premiership but he has dismissed the offer of a new deal with his present contract due to run out in 12 months.

The 23-year-old could now be sold with the new season just a month away and the Latics fearing he could go for nothing when his current deal expires.

His agent Tony Finnigan said: "Nathan has turned down Wigan's offer but will see out his current contract with the club. Should they wish to sell him before his deal expires, then that is up to them."
