DuPont acquires surface protection assets. (Nonwovens News).

DuPont Chemical Solutions, Wilmington, DE, has acquired the surface protection and fluoroadditives assets of Atofina, the chemical branch of French energy conglomerate TotalFinaElf. The acquisition makes DuPont Chemical Solutions enterprises the largest integrated producer of fluorotelomer-based specialty products for surface protection applications in North America and Europe. DuPont markets surface protection finishes and specialty surfactants under the Teflon and Zonyl brands and is expected to broaden its product line with more than 40 new products including those formerly marketed under the Atofina Forafac and Foraperle brands. These protection agents, primarily used as oil, water and grease repellents strengthen DuPont in such markets as carpet, textiles, paper, leather, fire fighting foams and stone and tile protection.
