Du Pont.

Du Pont will invest more than $100 million through 1994 in its worldwide Neoprene polychloroprene business, in addition to the $30 million investment made in 1991. The investment is aimed specifically at equipment and process control modernization, implementation of new monomer technology, and meeting long-term environmental goals for air emissions and CFC reductions. Du Pont has manufacturing facilities at Louisville, KY, the Pontchartrain Works in La Place, LA, the Maydown Works in Maydown, Northern Ireland, and through a joint venture with Showa Denko in Kawasaki, Japan. More than $20 million will go to upgrade polymerization facilities and install computerized process control equipment at the Louisville facility. Ten million will be spent to install monomer technology at the Pontchartrain Works to improve plant efficiency and reduce emissions. More than $60 million will be spent on environmental projects, including scrubbing, incineration and vent recovery equipment to reduce air emissions, and several other projects.
