Drypers, UltraCare merge to from new PL diaper company.

A merger that creates a new baby diaper manufacturer capable of producing one billion diapers a year has been executed by Drypers, Houston, TX and UltraCare Products, Marion, OH. The merger, effective last month, gives the new company, which will operate under the Drypers name, sales of $140 million annually and makes it the third largest manufacturer of baby diapers in the U.S.

Under terms of the new agreement, Drypers will consist of three divisions, Ultracare, VMG and Veragon (VMG and Veragon merged to form Drypers last June), all of which will continue to participate as separate regional brands under the Drypers umbrella. All existing manufacturing facilities will remain in operation and a new plant is currently underway in Puerto Rico. The agreement also gives the company a third product line, baby wipes, to add to its existing diaper and training pant segments (the company introduced boy and girl training pants earlier this year).
