AMAN flashed his genitals at a group of schoolgirls on a bus in Northumberland. Drunk David Mavin was caught on CCTV by the bus driver as he smirked and exposed himself to the girls, who were aged 12 and 13, a court heard.
The 43-year-old was with a group of pals when he got on and went to the top deck, where the youngsters were sitting and chatting.
But moments later, he was seen by the driver on CCTV flashing his genitals as the bus drove through Ellington, in Northumberland.
The driver immediately stopped and "remonstrated" with Mavin and his pals as the girls immediately got off.
Now, Mavin, of Simonside Crescent, Hadston, near Amble, has been fined after pleading guilty to one count of exposure at South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court.
Sue Baker, prosecuting, said the offence happened at around 6.40pm on October 22.
She said: "The bus driver saw three girls, aged between 12 and 13, get on and go up to the top deck.
"He can see some of the top deck because he's got CCTV monitoring equipment. This defendant gets on with other males, there's about six or seven of them.
"He sees them also going up to the top deck. He then sees the defendant exposing his penis to the three girls.
"He can't see the girls' reaction to that but, by the time he stops the bus, the girls get off and he goes up and remonstrates with the defendant."
Ms Baker added: "The CCTV shows that, when the defendant shows his penis, he's smirking and says 'have you seen anything like this before?'."
Mavin was identified from the CCTV and arrested.
Graham Crouth, mitigating, said it was a case of drunken stupidity on Mavin's behalf.
He said: "I think the reality is that this is a group of drunk lads on a bus being stupid.
"He's got on the bus and had quite a bit to drink and he doesn't often drink.
"The teenage girls were on the bus and he thought they were older than 12 or 13 years as it was 6.40pm on an October evening.
"He said the girls were laughing and there was some banter."
Mavin was fined PS80 and was also ordered to pay PS85 costs and a PS30 victim surcharge.
