Drug test provided by drug maker.

In the wake of doping scandals that marred this year's Olympics, the manufacturer of oxygen enhancing drugs has offered to make available proprietary technology that can be used to detect the drugs in human blood. Biopure Corp. (Cambridge, MA) announced that its test was originally developed to investigate how well humans could metabolize Hemopure and Oxyglobin, two drugs that enhance the amount of oxygen carried by blood. But now that the drugs potentially could be used to enhance athletic performance, the company felt obliged to make the technology available to the public.
