Drug detecting equipment handed over to toxicology laboratory in Kyrgyzstan.

The EU-UNDP Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP) handed over two sets of specialized equipment and two refrigerators to the toxicological laboratory under the Forensic Medical Bureau of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health.The equipment (rapid thin layer chromatography system including reagents and calibration standards) will be used for drug detection and drug identification in humans. Use of the equipment will significantly speed up the analysis of the presence of drugs and the results will be more reliable and reproducible.The total cost of the equipment is e1/4 13,300.An operational training on the use of the equipment for staff of the toxicological laboratory will be held in Bishkek in August 2009.The overall objective of the EU-UNDP CADAP Programme is to foster a public health approach to drug demand and an interdiction approach to drug supply in line with the European Commission drug strategies.CADAP is funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP.
