Driving me Mantel.

I am fed up with Hilary Mantel, who has written a sick fantasy of Margaret Thatcher being murdered.

What on earth is next? Why do we put up with this rubbish?

Many moons ago, I tried to read her novel Wolf Hall, which won the Booker Prize.

I'm a prolific reader and enjoy literature, from Shakespeare and Jane Austen to Stephen King and Dean Koontz, but I couldn't read Wolf Hall.

It was uncomfortable and irritating, with not one of the characters inviting empathy. It's 'different' and I'm sure that's why it won the prize, but I couldn't see anything else to recommend it.
