Driver who hit house a local man.

A DRIVER who died after his car collided with a house in Bromsgrove was a 63-year-old local man, police said.

Ongoing inquiries indicate the driver was taken ill at the wheel when the collision happened, just before 9.30pm on Friday.

It involved a silver Peugeot estate travelling along Golden Cross Lane, to the junction with Wildmoor Lane, in Catshill.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "It crossed the junction and continued at slow speed, colliding with the house.

"There was only minor damage to both the vehicle and the house.

"Attempts were made to resuscitate the driver, who has not been named, at the scene but he was confirmed dead at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch at 10.30pm. Early indications are that the driver was taken ill at the wheel."
