Driver pleads guilty to death of teenager.

A driver has pleaded guilty to causing the death of a teenager by dangerous driving while his co-accused denied the same charge.

William Dorey, 18, died after being knocked over in Whitley Bay on May 7 last year.

Now Joshua Cherukara (pictured) has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. Harry Cable pleaded not guilty to the same charge during a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court.

A trial date was set for November this year for Cable and Cherukara's sentence was adjourned until then.

Cherukara, 20, of Dachet Road, Whitley Bay, and Cable, 18, of Deneholm, Whitley Bay, were released on conditional bail.

The incident happened on the A193 The Links, in Whitley Bay, shortly before 10pm on May 7. Paramedics were called to the scene and Mr Dorey was taken to hospital, where he later died.
