Drink beer - not wine, urges chef; cOOking.
CELEbRITY chef marco Pierre White has told customers they shouldn't drink wine with meals at his restaurants.
"our food was never meant to be eaten with wine - it was always accompanied by beer," he said.
The Leeds-born chef, who at the age of 33 became the youngest chef to earn three coveted michelin stars, sells his own special real ale in his growing chain of country pubs and hotels.
He caused a stir when he threw out draught lager from his newest venture, the Angel pub in Lavenham, Suffolk.
Angry locals claimed they were being forced out but White, 49, said: "Heavy, highalcohol, dark beers just don't fit in with modern tastes."
He told the Campaign for Real Ale's magazine: "I developed a 4.1% beer called The Governor because I wanted it to appeal to the younger ale drinker. my beer is an ideal accompaniment to good british food."
