Dredging contract.
DREDGING CONTRACT. The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) said Aug. 17 it awarded the dredging contract to deepen the northern Pacific access channel to the company Jan De Nul N.V.. The $54.55 million project, in the Gaillard Cut (Corte Culebra in Spanish), comprises excavation and dredging of 4 million cubic meters of matter. It is the last part of the Canal Expansion Program. Related is the widening to 218 meters and deepening to 16.76 meters of a 1.6km of the Gatun Lake section of the northern access channel, which will connect the Gaillard Cut with the Third Set of Locks Project.
