Drawing and essay competition on water conservation held among students.

CHITRAL, June 05, 2010 (Balochistan Times): To create awareness and recognize importance of water, drawing and essay competition was held among the students of different schools on the title of Water Conservation. Main objective of the competition was sensitization of students and young generation on water conservation and its development. The competition was held at Government Centennial Model High School Chitral. While students of some private schools (boys and girls) also participated in the competition. Students prepared different drawing, maps, design and colourful sketches to convey a message regarding conservation of water. The second group wrote essays on importance and conservation of water. Addressing on the occasion Shabbir Ahmad Khan project Manger of Mass Awareness for Water Conservation and Development (MAWCD) project announced that competition among students of different schools would also be held at Upper Chitral to give an opportunity to these remote and backwards students to express their views regarding water conservation. Principal of the school Abdul Kabeer stressed upon the students to must communicate this messages to their family members to sensitize them regarding water conservation because its resources are lacking and we will face great hardships due to shortage of water in near future if we not adopt precautionary measurements. Project Director Engineer Samar Gul said that Pakistan also has been included in the list of those countries which are facing water scarcity. Scientists have predicted that water level is going deep and below and we will be facing water scarcity if we did not take necessary steps for its conservation. The speakers said that we have finished water of our own part and now using water of our coming generation. They said that students of 72 schools would be involved in this competition in next term. They said that Islam also has stressed on proper use of natural resources and on avoiding wastage of water. Later on chief guest Engineer Samar Gul distributed first, second and third awards among the position holders students including girl student.
