Draw deals Decies double blow.

DEJECTED Waterford suffered a double blow yesterday after losing out of Clare in the Munster final replay.

The 2-16 to 0-10 defeat to the All-Ireland champions at Semple Stadium consigned the Decies to the All Ireland quarter-finals at Croke Park next Sunday.

And the draw, made in Thurles last night, paired Gerald McCarthy's side with Galway, who could be strong challengers for the McCarthy Cup this year.

That was the draw neither county wanted, especially Waterford, who have to raise themselves again for their third high-intensity clash in as many weeks.

McCarthy will definitely have to plan without the services of forward Michael White, who was sent off in the fourth minute yesterday following a tussle with Brian Lohan.

In the other quarter-final, Offaly losing finalists in Leinster, face Ulster champions Antrim.

Offaly were thrown into turmoil after losing to Kilkenny in the Provincial decider and the subsequent resignation of manager "Babs" Keating.

But new boss Michael Bond will fancy their Midlanders" chances against Antrim.
