Draught Bass among top-selling U.S. imports

According to the Guinness Import Co., 1990 was a momentous year for draught Bass. According the company's estimates, draught Bass comprised over 17 percent (approximately 250,000 barrels) of the 1.45 million barrels of draught beer consumed in the U.S. last year.

Beating out Heineken and Beck's, among others, Guinness' Bass Ale remains one of the fastest-growing imported beers in America, a company spokesperson said. Currently, Bass ranks as the top-selling imported draught beer in New York City and Los Angeles.

"Without question, Bass is a strong leader in the imported draught category," said Paul Block, group marketing director for Bass, Guinness Import Co. "Draught Bass' performance for 1990 has been exemplary. We are proud to see that it continues to buck the industry."

"The Americans have truly mastered the art of pouring a good ale," explained Bass masterbrewer Arthur Seddon. "A pint of Bass here is just as brilliant as it is at home."
