Dragons win two games to advance to state.
HALSEY - Visiting Monroe knocked off Trico League runner-up Central Linn 12-8 on Saturday to earn the league's No. 2 spot in the Class 2A baseball state playoffs.
The Dragons, who blanked Oakridge 13-0 in five innings in the first game of the Trico League playoffs earlier Saturday, will play the No. 1 seed from District 6 - either Lost River or Bonanza - on Wednesday.
Monroe collected 12 hits and benefited from seven Central Linn errors. Scott Straheim had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Dragons, who also got two hits from Ben Wall. Brett Webb and Brandon Webb added two hits and an RBI each.
Graeme Frasier was 2-for-4, including a two-run home run in the first inning that gave the Cobras a 2-0 lead. Warren Brewer was 2-for-4 with a triple, and Ryan Thomas added two hits for Central Linn.
Monroe 13, Oakridge 0
HALSEY - Brett Webb, Brandon Webb and Nick Mooers had two hits each, and Seth Davis and Evan Baldwin combined on a four-hitter in the Dragons' win over the Warriors.
Jeremiah Fine and Chad Robb hit first-inning singles, and Stefan Bolin hit a double in the third inning to highlight Oakridge's offense.

Glendale 2, Umpqua Valley Christian 1
ROSEBURG - Ryan Owens singled in the tying run and scored the go-ahead run on Danny Lovemark's single as the Pirates beat the Monarchs in a game to determine state playoff seeding.
Lovemark was 2-for-4 with a triple to lead Glendale, which will play host to the No. 2 team from District 2 in Wednesday's first round. Umpqua Valley Christian will travel to face Trico League champion Crow on Wednesday.
