Dragons' Den star inspires training firm.
Bruce Durham set up Sunray Training in Amble, Northumberland, with staff of former forces personnel after receiving mentoring from TV Dragon James Caan's Entrepreneur Business Academy. The business, an offshoot from Durham's Premier Corporate Training (PCT) company, offers resettlement training and qualifications in health and safety, which will equip people to set up their own businesses or work as a trainer for Sunray.
Bruce said: "Thousands of personnel are going to be leaving the Forces and going through resettlement training.
"All of our team are ex-armed forces - we've all come from the forces and we know what it is like to come out of the armed forces family.
"A lot of people come out and buckle but we are there to offer support and teach skills. Health and safety is ingrained in people in the forces.
"We are offering the chance to build a business around something which comes naturally to people."
Durham met Caan when he went to Dragons' Den to pitch for investment before setting up PCT.
"Although no money changed hands, I got some fantastic advice that allowed me to develop my business," he said.
"Getting an education from someone like James, to see how a large business can succeed and continue to grow, helped me no end."
