Dragon is rampant at Roath!

Roath Park is used to playing host to all manner of flora and fauna throughout the year but this summer a beast of a more mythical nature has chosen the beautiful surroundings to set up home.

The main feature in this summer's floral display at Roath Park is the Rampant Dragon which is based on Cardiff's Silver Gilt winning display at last year's RHS Tatton Park Flower Show.

The sponsor for the RHS Flower Bed Competition at Tatton Park is Ball Colegrave, a major supplier of seeds and young bedding plants through sister company Kindergarden.

Ball Colegrave was so impressed with Cardiff's Rampant Dragon display that they have decided to donate its F1 Begonia 'Dragon Wing' for use.

They have supplied the plants for the display and flower beds.

The 2005 seed catalogue for Ball Colegrave will also feature this summer's display.

Stuart Lowen, of Ball Colegrave, said: 'It is wonderful to be able to work with Cardiff council and display this special Begonia F1 'Dragon Wing' and create an attraction in one of Cardiff's top parks.

'I hope the display will attract a lot of attention and brighten up the park,' he added.
